Ian Lacy Racing to make GT World Challenge America debut with Aston Martin
  • Pirelli GT4 America Championship squad ready to graduate to GT World Challenge
  • Frank Gannett and Drew Staveley set to co-drive new Aston Martin Vantage GT3

Announced today, Ian Lacy Racing with G3 Racing will make its series debut in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS in 2021. The Utah based squad will be the first team in GT World Challenge America to campaign the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

“We are extremely excited to join the SRO GT3 ranks with Aston Martin Racing. This is a fantastic opportunity for our organization to move up another step on the motorsports ladder and I'd like to thank Frank and G3 Racing. We are looking forward to the arrival of the car in the next few weeks and getting it on track as soon as possible,” said Ian Lacy, team owner at Ian Lacy Racing.

Ian Lacy Racing has competed in World Challenge competition since 2015 across various classes. The team has spent the last few seasons racing in SRO’s Pirelli GT4 America championship with the Ford Mustang GT4 and Ginetta G55 GT4.

Drivers Frank Gannett and Drew Staveley have collected race wins and podiums along the way, including the Sprint AM Championship in 2019 for Staveley. The duo returns as the team’s GT World Challenge America drivers, who will contest for the Pro-Am Championship.

No strangers to sharing a car, Gannett and Staveley will be tested with the longer 90-minute double-header races featured on GT World Challenge America weekends.

“CSJ Motorsports is extremely pleased to welcome Frank and Drew with Ian Lacy Racing to the AMR/CSJ Motorsports North America family to run the first GT3 Vantage in SRO America. This will not only be an exciting addition for the 2021 season but thrilling to watch this incredible beauty on the track,” said Susan Jary, partner at CSJ Motorsports.

The Ian Lacy Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will see it’s first action at the season opener scheduled for March 5-7 at Sonoma Raceway. The thirteen round, seven weekend GT World Challenge America championship features the top circuits in North America.

Frank Gannett, Driver at G3 Racing: “As a team I believe we have shown over the last three years that we are very competitive, having won two championships and finishing second overall in the GT4 America Sprint championship in 2020. We've grown together as a team and are looking forward to this next step up in GT World Challenge competition.”

“The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 has proven itself in Europe and now G3 Racing gets a chance to campaign this beautiful race car in GT World Challenge America. Ian Lacy Racing looks forward to working with Aston Martin and presenting a GT3 car capable of being up front and challenging for wins.”

Drew Stavely, Driver at G3 Racing: “I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity that has been given to all parties involved. I think this will be a great chance to show what our team can do on the GT3 platform. Getting into a GT3 car has been a personal goal of mine and it being an Aston Martin is unreal! After consideration of all manufacturers, Aston Martin was the clear choice for myself and Frank. This is absolutely a dream come true for me and I’ve never been more excited for a racing season to start!”
