Heylen Paces Second GT World Challenge America Practice at COTA

Austin, TX - Porsche driver Jan Heylen once again topped the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series practice charts at Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Trent Hindman was fastest in the Silver division.

Friday afternoon's second 60-minute practice session saw Heylen, in the #20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R (991.II) post the early quick time of 2:07.412. Kyle Marcelli in the #80 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 slotted into second early on with a 2:07.872, while Alec Udell, in the #33 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 slotted into third overall and first in the Silver division with a 2:08.034.

Nineteen minutes in, Squadra Corse's Rodrigo Baptista, in the #1 Ferrari 488 GT3 moved to second on the charts with a 2:07.622. Then before the halfway point of the session, Baptista improved to a 2:06.292 for top spot, Marcelli improved to a 2:06.635, while Heylen posted a 2:07.376.

With under 19 minutes in the session Hindman, in the #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 moved into the top spot in Silver, and fifth overall with a 2:07.928. Hindman then improved to a 2:07.738.

Then with the clock expiring and on his last flying lap, Heylen went to a 2:05.969 to top the charts. Drivers now get set for Saturday morning's qualifying sessions scheduled for 8 am Central. Watch the qualifying live on youtube.com/GTWorld.
