Heylen Fastest in First GT World Challenge America Practice at COTA

Austin, TX - Jan Heylen topped the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series practice charts Friday morning at Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Russell Ward was the fastest Silver division driver.

The 60-minute session saw a number of Pro/Am division drivers occupy the top spot. DXDT Racing's Colin Braun, in the #04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 set the early fast time of 2:07.143 followed by teammate Ryan Dalziel in the #63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 (2:07.208). Braun over the next number of laps found a rhythm and knocked off times of 2:06.858, 2:06.800, 2:06.773, and 2:06.577.

The fastest silver division competitor early on was Winward Racing's Ward in the #33 Mercedes-AMG GT3 (2.09.029). Jan Heylen, in the #20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R (991.II) momentarily slotted into second partway through the session with a 2:06.935. Dalziel then jumped to the top with a 2:06.503 and improved to a 2:06.311. Braun then came back with a 2:06.521, to slot back into second. Heylen then solidified the top spot with a 2:05.967. Ward improved to a 2:07.587, tops in Silver.
