An Eight-Hour Global Competition
While Circuit of The Americas will be the newest host, the eight-hour GT World Challenge America and Intercontinental GT Challenge race remains a steadfast event on the calendar. After previously being held at Laguna Seca and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the 8 Hour now moves to Austin for its next chapter.
The Texas 8 Hour will serve as the second round of the season for both the GT World Challenge America and Intercontinental GT Challenge seasons alike, bringing together international competitors and manufacturers chasing success on a global stage, set on American soil.
In previous years, the 8 Hour served as the season finale, with double points on the line that could make or break a championship run. Now, with the event set to take place sooner in the season, teams will have the opportunity to capitalize early, set the tone, and build an advantage.

A World-Class Circuit Built for Big Moments
From the dramatic climb into Turn 1 to the flowing esses and demanding technical sections, everything at Circuit of The Americas is built to be a spectacle. The circuit's combination of high-speed corners, heavy braking zones, and overtaking opportunities creates plenty of places for the competition to heat up. Across eight hours, those features will test everything from both man and machine alike.
There’s also the sheer scale of the facility. From towering grandstands on the main straight, to the brand new state-of-the-art Turn 1 Clubhouse, to the GT Drivers Club overlooking pit lane, and all the general admission areas, there are numerous vantage points to take in everything COTA has to offer.
With eight hours on the clock, there’s plenty of time to explore and take in the different scenery while the on-track battles rage on.
From California to Indianapolis to Texas
The Texas 8 Hour marks the next evolution of an event with a growing international legacy.
The race began as the California 8 Hours at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 2017, establishing North America's place on the Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar. In 2021, it moved to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Indianapolis 8 Hour became a signature event for SRO America and a destination for teams and drivers from around the world.
Now, the event heads to Austin next at Circuit of The Americas, the home of SRO America. The move brings the international endurance challenge to a venue already familiar to GT World Challenge America competitors and fans, pairing the global reach of IGTC with one of the championship's most popular American destinations.

Make a Weekend of It in Austin
The Texas 8 Hour is more than a single race. It's an opportunity to spend a full weekend immersed in the SRO America atmosphere, as the full roster of series joins the weekend schedule.
Explore the paddock, see the cars up close, and watch as the best GT talents in the world take on a brand new challenge. There’s never a dull moment when the SROdeo comes to town, and in 2027 the dial is getting turned all the way up.
Austin also makes for a memorable destination away from the circuit, giving fans the chance to pair a world-class racing weekend with the city's southern-style food, live music, and unmistakable Texas character.
