Marcus Ericsson joins brother Hampus Ericsson and Derek DeBoer for the season finale
Random Vandals Racing is pleased to announce that former F1 Driver and 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson will join fullseason drivers Derek DeBoer and Hampus Ericsson in the #99 Vbrick / Franck Muller BMW M4 GT3 for the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
“It’s exciting and an honor to have Marcus in a Random Vandals car for the Indy 8 Hour,” said RVR Team Principal Paul Sparta. “He’s really pumped up for the event, and I am certain he’ll bring huge energy and performance to the team. Given his hot streak at the end of the IndyCar season, we can’t wait to get him on track!”
The event will bring together brothers Marcus and Hampus Ericsson, who will share the #99 BMW alongside DeBoer for the endurance race.
Marcus expressed his enthusiasm for joining the lineup:
“I’m incredibly excited to join Derek and my younger brother Hampus in the Random Vandals Racing #99 BMW,” said Marcus Ericsson. “Racing alongside Hampus and sharing a car with him is something I cherish deeply, so I’m very grateful to Random Vandals for giving us the opportunity to do this together. I’ve been following and supporting Hampus and Derek throughout the season, and it’s clear to see the potential in both of them and the entire team.
“Hopefully, my extensive experience and knowledge of Indianapolis Motor Speedway will allow me to contribute to the team and help secure a strong result. The BMW M4 GT3 will be a new experience for me, but with the expertise and support of the Random Vandals team, I’m confident I’ll get up to speed quickly.”
For DeBoer and Hampus Ericsson, the Indianapolis 8 Hour will provide an opportunity to build on their 2026 GT World Challenge America campaign. The 2026 season has been a challenging one but has also shown continued improvements in overall pace and performance despite some setbacks. The Indianapolis 8 Hour will provide the team with an opportunity to showcase that progress in a longer endurance format where consistency, strategy and teamwork are essential.
“I couldn’t be more excited to close out the season at Indy alongside Hampus and Marcus,” said Derek DeBoer. “Both of them have had tremendous success at IMS, so I plan to lean on that experience as much as I can.
“When I look back on this season, though, the biggest highlight has really been the people. The entire team, the Ericsson family, my own family, and the incredible group of people who support us have made this year something really special. To finish the season together at a place as special as Indianapolis — with Hampus and Marcus sharing the car — is pretty incredible. I can’t wait to get started.”
For Hampus Ericsson, the event will offer the opportunity to compete alongside his brother while continuing his development during his first full GT3 season. Marcus will bring additional top-tier experience and endurance racing depth to the program.
“Getting the chance to share the BMW M4 GT3 RVR car with my brother at Indianapolis is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, so to finally make it happen is pretty special,” said Hampus Ericsson. “Derek and I have built a really strong relationship throughout the season, and I’m looking forward to bringing Marcus into the mix and seeing what the three of us can do together. Marcus knows IMS extremely well, and his experience there will be a huge asset to the team as we fight for a strong result.”
With the #99 Vbrick / Franck Muller BMW M4 GT3, RVR looks to capitalize on its growing experience in GT3 competition and deliver a strong performance at one of America's most iconic racing venues.
