GMG Racing Rides GT World Challenge Points Lead into Second Half of SRO America Season

- Kyle Washington, Tom Sargent and the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo Team Bring GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS Pro-Am Driver and Team Championship Leads to Road America This Weekend

GMG Racing rides into Road America this weekend for the start of the second half of the 2026 SRO America season leading the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Pro-Am point standings and several other SRO America racing series championships. The first full-series race weekend in 10 weeks after SRO's traditional summer break, GMG Racing and its teams and drivers look to start the final part of the 2026 season the same winning way they ended the first half at Road America this weekend, August 28 - 30.

Competing in GT World Challenge, GT America and McLaren Trophy America, GMG Racing and its teams and drivers closed out the first half of the 2026 the same way it started with an overall race win and a string of podium finishes in the most recent SRO America race weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, June 12 - 14.

Veteran team driver Kyle Washington and his third-year co-driver Tom Sargent persevered through the Road Atlanta weekend's featured three-hour GT World Challenge America race on Sunday to secure their third Pro-Am podium finish in the year's first four races.

Coming into the Atlanta race leading the GT World Challenge America driver and team Pro-Am standings by seven points, Washington, Sargent and the No. 32 team bring a season-high 12-point lead to Road America after the more than two-month mid-season break.

"The annual SRO America summer break seemed longer than usual this year, and maybe it was, but we never quit preparing and planning for the final stretch run of races, which starts this weekend at Road America," said GMG Racing Founder and Principal James Sofronas. "The momentum from our solid start to the season has not diminished at all despite the off time, but the same preparation and planning back at our headquarters operation at The Thermal Club, and the endless commitment from our drivers, crew and engineers, is incredible. This top-level effort and focused discipline from all on the GMG Racing team will continue straight through the end of the season."

The class-leading podium streak by Washington and Sargent in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo includes a pair of Pro-Am race wins at Sonoma Raceway and Sebring International Raceway.

"It's great to be coming back to GT World Challenge America after a summer break," Sargent said. "I’ve been super busy with racing in other series, so I do feel we have a good advantage going into this round. This has been a good track for us in the past and I think we’ll have a successful result. We will have our work cut out for us though, with most other teams doing testing, but I have faith in the GMG Racing guys and what we can achieve."

Washington also contests the single driver GT America sprint race championship this year and remains in the mix for that championship for the second-straight year. He arrives at Road America third in the overall "SRO3" class for top-tier GT3 cars and drivers.

After three official practice sessions over the course of Friday and Saturday, the weekend's featured three-hour GT World Challenge America race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. CDT this Sunday, August 30. Qualifying for the race takes place earlier on Sunday morning.

Qualifying and race coverage will be streamed live all weekend from Road America on SRO RaceControl powered by Vbrick, the GTWorld YouTube channel and SRO Motorsports Twitch. Additionally, one-hour highlights and commentary will air on Fox Sports 1 (FS1).
