The Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS drivers were in top form as they set off for Practice 2 on Friday afternoon. With another 60-minute session at their disposal, competitors across both Pro and Pro-Am classes used their time on track to the fullest as teams continued to put in the work ahead of the upcoming Qualifying session taking place on Saturday morning.
Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg charged ahead in their No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 to set the fastest time in the afternoon session, claiming the fastest overall and Pro-Am lap time. In the Pro class, it was Luca Mars and Zach Veach who went quickest in the No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 EVO22.
Pro Class
Zach Veach and Luca Mars showed off their strong pace in Practice 2, holding a firm grasp over first place in class. The No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 EVO22 locked in the best time amongst the Pro entries with a time of 2:04.704, which was also the second-quickest time overall.
Elliott Skeer and Adam Adelson slotted themselves into second place in class in the final minutes of the session on board their No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 992 GT3 R, while Alec Udell and Tommy Milner continued to display their versatility, following just 0.080 seconds behind in third place with their No. 63 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R. The Pro class standings were completed by Bill Auberlen and Varun Choksey in the No. 28 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3.
Pro-Am Class
Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg topped the Pro-Am and overall running, setting the fastest time of the session in their No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, with a flying lap time of 2:04.542 serving as the benchmark in Practice 2. Philip Ellis and Jeff Burton sat only 0.171 seconds further behind in the No. 91 Regulator Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Andy Lee and Elias Sabo also kept close in the No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO.
The Top 5 in the Pro-Am class were all separated by incredibly tight margins, as Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent were only a mere 0.004 seconds away in fourth position in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R, with ST Racing’s Neil Verhagen and Samantha Tan also in contention in the No. 38 BMW M4 GT3 as they separated by 0.062 seconds.
