Pole Shootout Results
Lauren Heinrich in the No. 20 Huber Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of the PRO-AM Class won the overall pole in the Pole Shootout for the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS. The Porsche driver turned a Best Lap of 1:22.707 to take the top honor. Second place went to Jules Gounon in the No. 77 Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Mercedes-AMG GT3 of the IGTC PRO Class with Luca Stolz in the No. 999 Mercedes-AMG Team Gruppe M Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 close behind.
IGTC PRO Class
Jules Gounon in the No. 77 Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be the highest starting car in the IGTC PRO Class. Luca Stolz in the No. 999 Mercedes-AMG Team Gruppe M Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 turned a 1:22.740 lap for his third place starting position.
Philipp Eng in the No. 30 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 starts the Indianapolis 8-Hour fourth overall and third in class. Augusto Farfus in the No. 31 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 starts the race sixth overall.
FGTWC PRO Class
The leading FGTWC PRO Class car is the No. 94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 of Robby Foley. He turned a Best Lap of 1:25.857 to start the race fifth overall. Jan Heylen in the No. 45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R starts the race second in class and seventh overall. Klaus Bachler in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R will start directly behind Heylen in eighth.
PRO-AM Class
Laurin Heinrich in the No. 20 Huber Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R is the pole sitter for the fourth running of the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS. He created a large gap between he and Edward Cheever III in the No. 535 Sky Tempesta Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 who will start the race ninth overall but second in class. Samantha Tan in the No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 will start the race 10th overall.
Let’s Go Racing
Tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 7, is race day. The Indianapolis 8-Hour presented by AWS goes green at 12:15 p.m. The start of the race is celebrated with a fan walk open to all ticket holders. Joining in the fun will be the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders, Blue, the Gordon Pipers, and more. The checkered flag brings an end to the endurance race and the 2023 season at 8:15 p.m.
