Practice One Kicks Off Sebring Effort for Fanatec GT World Challenge America

Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS takes on the 3.741-mile, 17-turn challenge of Sebring International Raceway. Practice One gave the two-class series of GT3 entries an hour to begin the setup process. Two red flags brought momentary pauses to the first practice of the day.

PRO Class
Porsche had a monopoly on fast lap times throughout the duration of the session. However, it was Ashton Harrison and Mario Farnbacher with a Best Lap of 1:59.626 to set the fastest lap overall and in the session. Madison Snow, with Jan Heylen in the No. 45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, were second fastest with a 2:00.164. Seth Lucas and Trenton Estep in the No. 53 MDK Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R followed with a Best Lap of 2:00.183. 

Eric Filgueiras and Steven McAleer were fourth fastest in their No. 28 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R with a 2:00.184. Their session ended early and brought out the second red flag as the car stopped on track during the session before flames could be seen coming from the No. 28 Porsche 911 GT3 R. The driver was unharmed. Alessandro Balzan and Manny Franco in the No. 21 Conquest Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 bested Chandler Hull and Bill Auberlen in the No. 94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 to be fifth fastest with a 2:00.590 lap time. Hull and Auberlen’s best lap in the session was a 2:01.255.

PRO-AM Class
Neil Verhagen and Samantha Tan were the fastest in the PRO-AM Class. The No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 set a lap time of 1:59.705. George Kurtz and Colin Braun put the pressure on the BMW in their No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 with a Best Lap of 1:59.760. Florida residents Ryan Dalziel and Justin Wetherill in the No. 33 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 were close competition with a Best Lap of 1:59.844. 

The fourth fastest in the class was Jeff Burton and Corey Lewis in the No. 91 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 who turned a lap time of 2:00.472. Adam Adelson and Elliot Skeer in the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, setting a 2:00.708 lap time rounded out the Fast Five.
