NOLA by Numbers: SRO Looks Back on Opening Rounds of Racing

SRO Motorsports America brought four series to NOLA Motorsports Park for its second calendar event of the 2023 season. Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS headlined the weekend along with GT America powered by AWS, Pirelli GT4 America and TC America powered by Skip Barber with 104 entered and 121 drivers present to compete in New Orleans. The Skip Barber Formula series also joined in the fun for a total of 10 races over the weekend.

Away from the track, the action didn’t stop as fans tuned in to the SRO’s free streaming platforms, attracting a worldwide audience. The YouTube Channel GT World features all SRO series globally for free. Fans can watch and rewatch some of their favorite GT racing moments in English, French, German and Italian.

Over 1.2 million viewers chose to join SRO America online for the NOLA weekend. Fans can watch and chat with each other throughout the race bringing the global community of SRO together virtually.

SRO America showcased four days of racing on Twitch via a live stream hosted by Ash Vandelay. Over one million viewers joined in the race action and interviews Vandelay hosted. Vandelay, alongside testing, practice, qualifying and races, has fans interacting with interviews and on-track action.

As numbers continue to rise on Twitch, Vandelay is in high demand. She will be streaming live from Circuit Of The Americas to meet fans in person while still covering on-track action. This is Vandelay’s first on-site live stream for SRO America, but COTA fans will have seen her behind-the-scenes commentary on he own channel.

NOLA made the perfect host for a class of preschool children who set a very impressive goal for themselves this year; learn what it takes to be a race car driver. The three and four-year-old students were given the ability to pick as a class a job to study over their school year. The class of 14 boys and girls chose race car driver.

On-site, the class was read to by TRG driver Derek DeBoer and his wife Brooke, who wrote the children’s book Fastlife: Let's Go Racing. The book, illustrated by their daughter Paige, encourages kids to follow their dreams. After the reading, the kids met Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS team principal and manager Will Bamber of MDK Motorsports, who gave the kids a tour of the transporter and No. 53 Porsche 911 GT3-R. Their day ended with a coloring page and watching GT America powered by AWS practice.

Many select individuals enjoyed the exclusive Paddock Club throughout the race weekend. The Paddock Club allowed the nearly 200 credentialled guests a birds-eye view of the track from a second-story balcony. Inside the venue, they dined on exquisite cuisine inspired by New Orleans. SRO America was thrilled to host the many racing enthusiasts, including Lieutenant Governor William H Nungesser.

SRO Motorsports America continues its community-forward focus at Circuit of The Americas. The Austin, Texas, circuit welcomes SRO America, home to another doubleheader weekend packed with racing, cowboys, grid walks and much more. Tickets are now on sale. Camping at the United States-only FIA Formula 1 purpose-built track is also available. Check out ticket bundles here.
