Alton, Virginia - The Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS started its fifth and sixth rounds on the historic VIRginia International Raceway track with a mid-morning 60-minute practice session. The #1 K-Pax Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 driven by Andrea Caldarelli jumped out to a quick start over several Pro-Am drivers, but the action was soon halted by a Red Flag that halted action for nearly 20 minutes.
Once the session resumed with 30 minutes left, the #38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 with Nick Wittmer led the field and the Pro-Am class with the fastest time of 1:43.400. In class and overall he was followed by the #04 CrowdStrike with Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Colin Braun at the wheel, in third was #13 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 piloted by Justin Wetherill.
In Pro action, the #6 US Racetronics Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Loris Spinelli had the fastest lap time in class coming in at 1:44.026. In second place was the #1 K-Pax Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 driven by Caldarelli. Third place went to K-Pax teammates #3 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Jordan Pepper.
Am class saw the #23 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 driven by Onofrio Triarsi best their close competitor AF Corse in the #61 Ferrari 488 GT3 Jean-Claude Saada with the fastest lap time of 1:45:545.
GTWCA racing continues later today, with Practice Session No. 2 at 3:15 PM EST On Saturday, qualifying begins at 9:00 AM, Qualifying 2 at 9:20 AM followed by Race 1 at 2:15 PM.
