With only a handful of rounds remaining on the 2026 GT World Challenge global calendar and the Global Manufacturer Championship, the latest results have brought a significant shake-up at the top of the standings.
On the American front, the DESDER Indianapolis 8 Hour brought both the GT World Challenge America and Intercontinental GT Challenge seasons to a dramatic conclusion. Eight hours of intense competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway delivered a major result for Porsche, which emerged from the Brickyard having taken over the lead in the global manufacturer fight.
Porsche now sits atop the standings with 1,125 points, moving ahead of Mercedes-AMG, which drops to second with 1,093 points. Ferrari remains third with 1,012 points as the global season continues toward its final rounds.
The Indianapolis result also delivered another major milestone for Porsche, which clinched the Intercontinental GT Challenge manufacturer championship title. With the global standings now reshuffled, the remaining events across Europe, Asia, and Australia will be crucial in determining the ultimate champion.
Porsche
Porsche enjoyed a standout weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, earning 66 points toward the Global Manufacturer Championship, making it the highest total of any manufacturer at the event.
The headline result came courtesy of GMG Racing, as the No. 32 Porsche captured the overall victory in the DESDER Indianapolis 8 Hour. The triumph was particularly significant for Kyle Washington, whose Pro-Am entry also secured him class championship title, capping off a successful campaign for the team.
Wright Motorsports added to Porsche’s strong weekend with a third-place finish on the Pro-Am podium with the No. 31 entry, contributing further valuable points to the manufacturer’s tally.
The combination of the overall victory, additional class podiums, and a commanding points haul proved decisive in the global championship battle. Porsche not only moved ahead of Mercedes-AMG in the standings but also secured the Intercontinental GT Challenge manufacturer title.
Mercedes-AMG
Indianapolis delivered a mixed weekend for Mercedes-AMG, which collected 28 points but ultimately surrendered the lead in the global standings to Porsche.
Mercedes-AMG Team JMF Motorsports delivered one of the manufacturer's strongest results, with the No. 34 Pro-class entry securing a third-place finish. The result also saw the team conclude the season second in the Pro-class championship standings.
The sister No. 27 Pro-Am entry, however, endured a frustrating outing, with a mechanical issue forcing an early retirement and limiting its opportunity to contribute further points.
There was better news in the Am category, where MAD Joker Racing by Lone Star Racing claimed the class victory, adding an important result to Mercedes-AMG's weekend. The Pro-class Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG, meanwhile, saw its race come to an early end after being caught up in an on-track incident.
Despite the setbacks, Mercedes-AMG remains firmly in contention for the global manufacturer crown.
Ferrari
AF Corse USA led the charge for the Italian manufacturer, with both of its entries reaching the podium in their respective classes. The No. 12 Pro class Ferrari secured second place, while the No. 163 Am class entry also finished runner-up, delivering a strong double-podium result for the team. Beyond the manufacturer standings, Indianapolis also marked an important milestone for Jay Schreibman, who clinched the Am-class championship for the second consecutive year.
Scuderia Corsa added another podium to Ferrari's tally in the Am class, with the No. 67 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO finishing third.
Ferrari now sits on 1,012 points, 113 behind Porsche at the top of the global standings. With several rounds remaining across the international calendar, the manufacturer will aim to continue its strong form and capitalize on every opportunity to close the gap.
