The SRO Motorsports umbrella is global by design, with championships spanning all across Asia, Australia, America, and Europe, but the Intercontinental GT Challenge takes that concept even further.
It’s the closest thing GT3 racing has to a true world tour, with a calendar built around some of the biggest endurance races on the planet. It connects manufacturers, teams, and drivers across multiple continents in one title fight.
Rather than operating as a traditional regional series, IGTC is made up of marquee standalone endurance events held around the world. Manufacturers score points at each round, with the championship ultimately crowning a global champion.
The championship visits some of the most iconic circuits and races in GT racing, including the Meguiar's Bathurst 12 Hour in Australia, the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring in Germany, the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, the Suzuka 1000km in Japan, and the Indianapolis 8 Hour in the United States.
Each event presents a completely different challenge, all while having to contend with various types of circuits, changing weather conditions and temperatures, day-into-night racing, and massive international grids. To succeed in one event is already impressive, but to conquer all is near impossible.
The Indianapolis 8 Hour is an especially important event on the American front, serving as the season finale of both the IGTC and GT World Challenge America seasons, wherein the two fields merge together for one last event to conclude the year. As the season finale, it often becomes the all-important deciding round in the global championship battle.
When combining all of these elements, Intercontinental GT Challenge represents the worldwide scale of modern GT3 racing by connecting multiple continents, major GT events, international manufacturers, and the most talented drivers in the sport.
And because the same GT3 regulations are used globally, teams and brands can compete on the biggest stages without needing entirely different cars for different championships.
