JMR Johor Racing is set to make a return to the Indianapolis 8 Hour in 2026, committing to a two-car effort at the season finale of the Intercontinental GT Challenge championship at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Malaysian squad will field a pair of Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries, including a Pro class car bolstered by GM factory drivers, as part of a renewed focus on SRO Motorsports Group’s global GT3 championship platform.
As they prepare for the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour this weekend, JMR has re-centered its international strategy around the Intercontinental GT Challenge rounds, with the Indy 8 Hour standing as a cornerstone of that campaign. With the Corvette Z06 GT3.R program now firmly established, JMR is going to be setting their sights on the Brickyard as they come in with expanded ambitions and factory support.
The team’s Pro entry at the Bathurst 12 Hour, which includes a driver lineup featuring Earl Bamber, Alexander Sims, and Nicky Catsburg, signals the caliber of talent JMR intends to bring to IGTC rounds.
This will be their second appearance at the Racing Capital of the World, having previously competed under the Mercedes-AMG banner in 2024. However, their shift to Corvette machinery and increased depth of their international program indicates an important shift in their trajectory.
JMR’s operational base will shift to Europe this season, with cars and equipment centralized in the Netherlands. The move allows for streamlined logistics and testing ahead of marquee events, including the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and the Indianapolis 8 Hour. The long-term objective is to maintain four race-ready Corvette Z06 GT3.R chassis, ensuring flexibility and resilience across a global calendar.
While the team has not yet stated whether they will be fielding one or two entries for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, partly as a result of a scheduling conflict impacting driver availability, JMR has already declared they will bring a two-car effort for the final two IGTC rounds in Suzuka and Indianapolis, with one apiece in both the Pro and Pro-Am classes.
The Indianapolis 8 Hour remains one of North America’s premier international GT events, drawing top-tier teams and manufacturers from around the world to the one of the most famous and historic venues in motorsports. As the IGTC field merges with the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS championship, which has seen a tremendous increase in entries for 2026, the fall finale is already gearing up to be even bigger and better than ever.
