There’s just something about Indianapolis Motor Speedway that keeps people coming back for more. This October, the Brickyard is set to welcome another international star with open arms, with the likes of Will Power returning for another attempt to kiss the bricks. And one thing’s for sure: he has the will to win, and the power to do it.
However, this time around his view behind the wheel will look a little different. The two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion will make his event debut in the Indy 8 Hour next week on board the No. 75 75 Express Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Though many fans know Power through his front-running status and success with Team Penske, he recently made major headlines following the recent announcement that he will be moving to Andretti Global next year, taking over the No. 26 Honda-powered machine.
While everyone excitedly awaits for his next chapter to start in 2026, Power has added another endeavor to his schedule, stepping into the realm of GT racing. Despite his long and highly successful open-wheel career, this serves as a relatively new venture for the Australian as he takes on one of the most demanding events on the global GT World Challenge and Intercontinental GT Challenge calendars.
Power arrives at the Brickyard ready to test himself against the best GT drivers from across the globe, but the reality is that the remainder of the field is stacking up against one of the biggest racing talents in the world, who just so happens to possess an exceptional amount of knowledge of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Evidently, IMS is familiar territory for Power. He has competed extensively on both the oval and road course configurations, and forever etched his name in the history books by winning the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 in 2018, making him the first Australian to achieve this feat.
It goes without saying that he is notoriously fast and has the stats to back him up, holding the record for the most pole positions in IndyCar history with 71, in addition to ranking fourth on the all-time win list with 45. Notably, many of those pole positions came on the Indianapolis road course configuration. His résumé well and truly speaks for itself, and he is sure to be a natural threat in GT3 machinery as well.
Now, Power has his sights firmly set on the Indy 8 Hour. For a driver whose career has been defined by versatility and success at the highest levels, this is an opportunity for him to shine once again, this time in front of a global GT racing audience at one of the most storied venues in motorsports.
As a proven winner time and time again, Power arrives at the Brickyard not just to compete, but to contend. To watch him and 75 Express in action from October 16th to 18th, buy your Indy 8 Hour tickets now!
