Campbell Fastest in Second Blancpain GT World Challenge America Practice

Las Vegas, NV – Pro/Am category driver Matt Campbell posted the fastest time in the second Blancpain GT World Challenge America practice on Friday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The series closes out its 2019 season in one of the premier entertainment capitals of the world October 17-20.

Aussie Campbell, driving the Wright Motorsports’ #91 Porsche 911 GT3 R (991) clocked a 1:32.631 to top the overall and Pro/Am category charts, while K-PAX Racing’s Andy Soucek in the #9 Bentley Continental GT3 posted the second fastest time with a 1:32.663. Third on the charts was Brazil’s Rodrigo Baptista driving the #3 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 with a 1:32.687.

Early in the 60-minute session as tires came up to temperature, Soucek posted a 1:32.767 to top the charts. Baptista slotted into second with a 1:33.216.  Soucek then improved to a 1:32.663, while GT Champion Toni Vilander in the R. Ferri Motorsport #61 Ferrari 488 GT3 clocked a 1:33.259 to slot into third.

In the Am category, Takuya Shirasaka in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW F13 M6 GT3 posted a 1:34.123, good for 8th overall.

At the 12-minute mark, Portugal’s Alvaro Parente in the #9 K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3 moved to the top with a 1:32.663, while Baptista improved his time to a 1:32.687, good for second on the charts. Campbell then moved into third with a 1:32.914.

At the 22-minute mark, Soucek went to the top with a 1:32.663. A minute later Campbell posted his fast time and times held until the checkered.

Blancpain GT World Challenge America competitors now get set for a 30-minute qualifying session set for a green flag start of 3:50 pm local time.
