After a determined performance at Circuit of The Americas, LAB Motorsport heads into Rounds 5 and 6 of the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS with valuable track time under their belt and a sharper focus.
The Canadian team performed well at Circuit of the Americas, despite arriving with no testing and battling mechanical issues throughout the weekend. Jean-Frédéric Laberge and Kyle Marcelli proved their resilience, commanding the #92 Dagobert Porsche 992 GT3 R prepared by GT Racing.
“COTA was a rollercoaster,” said Laberge. “We were discovering the car lap by lap, and still managed to be competitive. It’s encouraging. Now, we head to Sebring with a better foundation and a clearer target. We have tested here and we feel ready to take on the bumps of Sebring. The history that this track holds does not elude me, I am eager to take on both races this weekend.”
Sebring International Raceway, known for its notoriously bumpy surface and historic endurance legacy, will offer another tough test for both drivers and cars.
“Sebring is going to be interesting,” added Kyle Marcelli. “ We will be dealing with very hot, humid track and ambient temperatures. Of course everything will be affected from tire performance to race car balance and of course driver endurance.”
“ We enjoyed a productive two-day test last week, where we worked through a number of adjustments on the race car. We ended the test very pleased with the performance. Now we see where we stack up against the competition. Some BoP adjustments were made between COTA and Sebring which will also have impact. The goal is to finish on the podium. Let’s see what we can do!”
The 3.74-mile (6.02 km), 17-turn Florida circuit is a fan favorite and one of the most challenging venues on the calendar.
