  • Returning CrowdStrike by Riley Champions Continue Momentum in Pro-Am
  • Practice 2 Results

The season has officially kicked off with Practice 2 at Sonoma Raceway. Under the bright California sun, the Pro Class and Pro-Am drivers took to the 12-turn course to set their fastest laps ahead of Race 1 later this afternoon.

The format of Practice 2 shifted, as both drivers for Fanatec GT World Challenge America were expected to partake in the 1-hour session that would double up as qualifying. The fastest lap for Driver 1 will be retained to form the grid for Saturday’s race, whereas Driver 2’s quickest time will set the grid for Race 2.

Pro Class

Wright Motorsports distinguished themselves as the quickest overall in the Pro Class with California-based duo Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer co-driving the No. 120 Porsche 992 GT3 R entry, slotting themselves ahead of the No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Zach Veach and Luca Mars. New driver pairing Varun Choksey and Bill Auberlen followed closely behind in their No. 28 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3, completing the Top 3.

With the Wright Motorsports pairing stepping up into the Pro Class following a highly successful 2023 season competing in Pro-Am, accompanied by two more competitive new teammate pairings on the grid eager to showcase their skillsets, the Pro Class is already shaping up to be unpredictable and enticing.

Pro-Am Class

Last year’s Pro-Am Class champions, George Kurtz and Colin Braun, spared no time reaffirming their dominance in the Pro-Am field, with the No. 04 Crowdstrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 soaring to the top of the leaderboard early in the session and maintaining a strong grasp on the fastest time. They were just ahead of Philip Ellis and Jeff Burton in the No. 91 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Samantha Tan and Neil Verhagen followed suit with the third fastest time in class during Practice 2 in their No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 as the pair reunite for another season of competition together. They were accompanied by Justin Rothberg, a new face in the GT World Challenge America paddocks, who is co-driving the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 with Robby Foley.

The No. 19 Esses Racing w/ Mercedes-Benz of Austin entry of Adam Carroll and Will Hardeman added another Mercedes-AMG GT3 into the medley as they set the fifth fastest Pro-Am time in Practice 2.
