Turner Motorsport Returns to SRO with Newcomer Justin Rothberg and LATICRETE

Turner Motorsport will make its return to SRO with a pair of BMW M4 GT3s for the 2024 season. The 9-time championship-winning team will compete in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS with veteran driver Robby Foley linking up with promising newcomer, Justin Rothberg. Rothberg will also drive a GT America Powered by AWS entry with Foley on the pit stand coaching the young driver. Both BMW M4 GT3s will don a LATICRETE livery as its primary sponsor with associate sponsors Valhalla Boatworks, LiquiMoly and Turner Motorsport.

Justin Rothberg comes to Turner Motorsport as a rookie to SRO and the BMW M4 GT3, however the Ferrari Challenge North America P-Am driver has 21 races in Ferrari Challenge under his belt. The 22-year-old logged six wins, six podiums and 12 top-ten finishes in his first full season last year on his way to clinching the 2023 FNA P-Am Championship. Rothberg will look to his co-pilot and BMW Works driver, Robby Foley, for guidance as he learns a new series and car.

“I’m excited to move up into a more completive form of racing with a team that has a proven track record and a co-driver with solid experience as a coach,” said Rothberg. “I’m excited to learn a new type of car. The BMW M4 felt familiar at the test, despite being my first front engine.”

Turner Motorsport has a wealth of knowledge of Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS and GT America Powered by AWS from years of history in SRO. Most recently, the team raced the BMW M6 in 2022, and BMW M4 for two races in 2023. Foley, who joined the team in 2018, and crew also bring experience with the BMW M4 GT3 that they’ll take from its GTD program in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“I’m super excited to be back in SRO full time after a hiatus in 2023. I’m looking forward to joining Justin, who is a great young talent who’s had success in his career already,” said Foley. “I’ll do my best to teach him what he doesn’t know and to mentor him into these more advanced races with pit stops and driver changes. We’ve already tested for a day, and he’s shown that he is naturally talented. He’ll have a great group around him to get him up to speed, and I’m looking forward to it.”

LATICRETE will join Turner Motorsport for the full SRO season. The 3rd generation, family-owned, leading manufacturer of construction solutions for the building industry will be featured across the two BMW M4 GT3 entries. Rothberg’s grandparents, Henry and Lillian Rothberg, founded LATICRETE in 1956 with a commitment to innovation that continues today, and is sure to continue as a new generation of the family grows into leadership roles at the global manufacturing company.

“It’s special to continue my grandfather and grandmother’s legacy,” said Rothberg about having his family’s company on the side of his race car. “It’ll be great to have clients come out to the racetrack and actually get to meet and get them involved and have it be more than just a product they use at the jobsite.”

“We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s race series with the team at Turner Motorsport, a 9-time championship BMW race team,” said Sean Boyle, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Channels at LATICRETE.  “Both LATICRETE and Turner are driven by innovation and have built our legacies on pushing the boundaries of performance and function, so teaming up on the track just makes sense.”

“Seeing Justin take the track with his family’s company on the hood brings a smile to my face,” said Will Turner, Team Principal at Turner Motorsport.  “Our team would like to thank Sean Boyle, the Rothberg family, and everyone at LATICRETE for their support this year.  We’re hoping to build on a strong 2024 season and continue our rich history of racing success.”

The 2024 SRO season kicks off at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. April 5-7. The Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS and GT America Powered by AWS races will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.
