Aston Martin Racing's new-for-2024 GT3 contender has broken cover at Silverstone.
The car remains unnamed despite being based on the current V8-powered Vantage platform, which superseded its V12-engined predecessor in 2019.
The lack of nomenclature perhaps indicates Aston's fourth generation GT3 machine will be known as something other than Vantage. That hasn't happened since the DBRS9 was replaced at the end of 2011.
AMR first publicly acknowledged the existence of its 'all-new' GT3 and GT4 models last week when it also confirmed plans to enter the Hypercar arena with its revived Valkyrie programme.
Its new GT3 model, which was driven at Silverstone by Jonny Adam and Darren Turner, is believed to be in the final stages of its development programme. Homologation will be completed in time for 2024's racing season.
Although running a camouflage livery, several new styling cues are visible. Despite AMR's best efforts, it's clear the headlights will break with the existing car's slim design, while the rear arches have far greater aero detail. The new rear wing endplates are also approximately twice the size, although the swan neck pillars appear to have been carried over.
Testing was conducted on Pirelli tyres, the global partner of SRO Motorsports Group's various GT series.
Initial feedback has also been positive, with one unnamed Pro driver telling Dailysportscar.com: "it’s the easiest GT car I have ever driven."
