The historic and coveted Silverstone Circuit will be the host of the third round of the 2023 Mobileye GT World Challenge America Esport Championship, with a total of 46 drivers across two classes putting themselves to the test around the technical and high speed British track. The competitors will take on the 18-turn, 3.66 mile virtual track on Saturday, July 22nd as they continue to battle it out for the championship title and cash prize.
Twenty two cars return to the Pro Class lineup, with another 24 cars making up the Silver class. In the previous round in the Lone Star State, audiences witnessed thrilling action and overtakes for the entirety of the race held at Circuit of the Americas. The intensity of the championship continues to rise as the Mobileye GTWC Esports America Sprint Series makes its way to Great Britain for the upcoming round.
Pro Class
Current championship leader Igor De Oliveira Rodrigues has clinched the win in the first two rounds of the season in Laguna Seca and COTA, and will be returning in his No. 124 Audi R8 LMS Evo II to attempt a hat trick. His Williams Esports teammate, Fidel Moreira, will also be looking to add another podium to his tally in the No. 41 Porsche 992 GT3 R.
Jyeed Hutchinson in the No. 26 Automobili Lamborghini Esport Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, Angel Inostroza in the No. 262 YAS Heat Esports Porsche 992 GT3 R, and Chris Severt in the No. 39 STR Esports BMW M4 GT3 also each have collected one podium so far this season, and will be returning in the third round in search of more hardware.
HPD JAS Pro America will once again be represented by a total of five entries, with Josh Staffin, Cardin Lu, Josh McKean, Karl Wittmer, and Nicolas Alvarado equipped with a Honda NSX GT3 Evo.
Porsche will be fielding four entries of their own, with Moreira and Inostroza in the aforementioned seats, accompanied by Ed Kerstetter in the No. 28 SOP Esports Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R and Michael Kundakcioglu in the No. 56 FFS Racing car. Meanwhile, Aston Martin returns with three drivers, with Renato Dornelles and Race Anywhere Simsport, Daniel De Oliveira and Williams Esports Academy, and Vinny Oliveira and Asetek SimSports all commanding an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
The two Ferrari challengers will be driven by Skyler Loverink in the No. 520 entry for Brix Racingm with Philippe Simard taking the No. 123 FFS Racing Ferrari 296 GT3. FFS Racing will also be representing Audi, with Phelipe Roberto utilizing the No. 44 Audi R8 LMS Evo II, while Renan Negrini completes the Audi lineup in the No. 2 Asetek SimSports Visceral entry.
Cameron Martineau will be challenging in the No. 38 STR Esports BMW M4 GT3, with Aloo Gobi occupying the No. 20 McLaren 720S GT3 for Griphax Engineering, and Gabriel Felipe driving the No. 63 Oak Racing Team Esports Bentley Continental GT3 2018.
Silver Class
The Silver class championship has served up plenty of variety in the two opening races of the season, with Ferrari and Porsche proving to be frequent podium visitors. Mérick Lévêque in the No. 88 Asetek SimSports Visceral team Ferrari 296 GT3 and Nicholas DeSantis in the No. 12 ND Motorsports Porsche 992 GT3 R scooped up the wins in Race 1 and Race 2. Estefano Barrera was the runner-up in Laguna Seca in the No. 369 Asetek SimSports Visceral team Ferrari 296 GT3, while Cody Sherratt took second place at COTA in the No. 22 Genesis Esports Ferrari 296 GT3. Finally, the remaining spots on the podium belonged to the No. 969 Nine 4 Nine Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 of Joseph Kostovich and the No. 110 Team Schumiskins Porsche 992 GT3 R of Zach Doran.
Porsche will also be in good company with the likes of five additional cars in their roster, including Timothy Flammger in the No. 19 Alpha Simsport car, Koapono Patrick in the No. 59 Sim Racing Alliance machine, Diego Paul Fimbres Casas in the No. 95 Pillars Racing / Sim Racing Alliance beast, Jordan Johnson in the No. 116 Puresims esports vehicle, and Hayden Harter completing the lineup No. 177 TSE Racing - Northstar entry.
Honda’s representation in the class will be shared between five drivers and their respective teams, with the Honda NSX GT3 Evo being driven by Hamza Gulzar (No. 14 HPD JAS Pro America), Antonio Azpiri (No. 69 Azpiri Racing), Kenneth Portis II (No. 84 Roto Grip Racing), Ayrton Stuffano (No. 98 AFRT), and Ricardo Rivera (No. 787 Puerto Rico eRacing Club).
Brazilian teammates Lucas Werle and Leandro Werle will be fielding the two Aston Martin entries for Arnage Competition, driving the No. 4 and No. 40 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
The remaining competitors will each be the lone drivers for their respective manufacturers. Marc-Antoine Landry will be in the No. 711 EGT Canada Audi R8 LMS Evo II, with Adrien Bourdon driving the No. 8 SOP Esports Racing Bentley Continental GT3 2018. Pierre-Olivier Cloutier will be commanding the No. 36 EGT Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3, with Argenis Riera returning in the No. 43 Geekz Energy Simracing BMW M4 GT3. Finally, Bruno Yamamoto and Jonathan Clifford complete the grid with the No. 10 BraClean e-Sports Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 and No. 999 Alpha Sim Sport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2.
Saturday’s race day action will kick off with two practice sessions at 13:30 ET and 14:15 ET, with qualifying following immediately after at 14:25 ET. Finally, the green flag will wave for the 60-minute race at 15:00 ET. The event will be streamed live via the SRO Motorsports Twitch channel and GT World YouTube channel.
