SRO Motorsports America Mourns the Loss of Friend and Industry Servant, Reeves Callaway

AUSTIN (July 14, 2023) - Reeves Callaway passed away Sunday, July 11 in California surrounded by friends and family. The founder of Callaway Cars and of the Callaway golf company was 75.

Callaway is best known for modifying and manufacturing cars with his company Callaway Cars alongside American giant General Motors.  

Callaway last campaigned an entry in the SRO America paddock in 2018 in his own Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R. The car is still represented in the series through the entry of Mirco Shultis and MISHUMOTORS. 

Greg Gill, CEO and President of SRO Motorsports America recalls the vigor and determination of Callaway.

“We’re very saddened to hear of the passing of Reeves and of course, our thoughts and prayers are extended to his family at this time. He will not be someone soon forgotten in our sport as he was a great pioneer and visionary. He had a firm sense of what was needed to execute a project at the highest level. He brought an unmatched tenacity to everything he set out to accomplish. We will miss him deeply.”
