Sonoma Raceway Practice Two: PRO AM Crowdstike by Riley Tops Charts

Rolling hills equal elevation changes at Sonoma Raceway. The 2.505-mile, 12-turn circuit is technical and with the aid of the higher temperatures for Practice Two, faster. The three-class series saw lap time improvements across the classes. Within the 60-minute time frame each driver pairing dialed in their machine.

PRO-Class
In the competitive PRO Class, it's still the BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 that reigns supreme as the fastest of the day. In Practice Two the No. 94 of Chandler Hull and Bill Aberlen turned a 1:37.365. MDK Motorsports put the No. 53 Porsche GT3 R 992 second in the class with Seth Lucas and Trenton Estep registering a 1:37.650. Conquest Racing’s No. 21 Ferrari 296 GT3 of Alessandro Balzan and Manny Franco showed more speed ending the day third. RS1 teammates Eric Filgueiras and Steven McAleer with the No. 28 Porsche GT3 R 992 was fourth fastest to end the day. Ashton Harris and Mario Farnbacher sat mid-pack of the five-car field with the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 EVO22 for much of the session but ended fifth. 

PRO-AM and AM Class
The No. 04 Crowstrike by Riley Mercedes AMG GT3 of Geroge Kurtz and Colin Braun was the fastest overall and in the PRO-AM Class. Braun laid down a lap time of 1:36.853 and it was never to be challenged. Behind the No. 04 was the No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 of Scott Smithson and Bryan Sellers. ACI Motorsports and Wright Motorsports rounded out the top five of the PRO-AM Field with Porsche race cars. The No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3 R 992 was followed by the No. 120 and No. 45 of Wright Motorsports.

The RealTime Racing No. 43 Mercedes AMG GT3 finished the day strong, ready for qualifying tomorrow.

UP NEXT
Practice Two is the final practice session for the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS series. Saturday, April 1 begins with two qualifying sessions. Qualifying driver one starts at 9:20 a.m. PT/ 4:20 p.m. GMT and is followed by driver two at 9:40 a.m./ 4:40 p.m.
