Indianapolis, Indiana - The Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS field was out and about at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this morning. The 25-car lineup took on the Brickyard for a 90-minute Pre-Qualifying session under bright skies but cold track temperatures.

The session was interrupted by three red flags. Thankfully no cars were damaged in the on-track incidents. Once again, the field proved to be one of the strongest we have seen all season, with the Top 19 within one second of the leader.

Pro

Robby Foley, in his #96 Turner Motorsport BMW, set the pace early in the session with a lap time of 1:22.522. Turner Motorsport remained on top of the charts for most of the 90-minute practice session, but Loris Spinelli laid down an impressive time of 1:22.377 late in the session in his #6 US RaceTronics Mercedes-AMG GT3, bumping the BMW crew to second place overall.

The Top 3 consisted of three different manufacturers, with the #3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 just 0.164 shy of first place.

Multiple-race winner Philip Ellis went fourth quickest in the Pro class, fifth overall. The #33 Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 has been on the podium three times this season and will be looking to add another to their tally.

Pro-Am

The action in the Pro-Am class heated up as the #75 Sun Energy 1 racing by AKKODIS ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Kenny Habul, Martin Konrad and Dominik Baumann managed to fly around the Speed Capital of the World, claiming first place in Pro-Am and fourth overall.

The #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 of Ashton Harrison, Mario Farnbacher and Christina Nielsen went second quickest in the Pro-Am class, only 0.108 behind first place.

Rounding up the Pro-Am Top 3 was the #13 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 of Justin Wetherill, Ryan Dalziel and Conrad Grunewald, who claimed the 9th fastest lap time overall.

Am and Silver Cup

The #38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 was a strong contender for an overall Top 5 position, but the Canadian outfit ended up 21st, presumably working on set-up adjustments prior to qualifying.

The #88 Zelus Motorsports Lamborghini HuracanGT3 of Jason Harward, Seth Lucas and Jason Daskalos edged out the #08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 co-driven by David Askew, Scott Smithson and Valentin Pierburg for first place in the Am standings.

Qualifying 1 starts at 1:55 PM ET, with Qualifying 2 at 2:17 PM ET and Qualifying 3 following at 2:40 PM ET. All three drivers will be able to take on the track for 15 minutes each, with the average of their best times deciding their final place on the grid. The Top 10’s fastest drivers will be promoted to the 8-Hour Pole Shootout at 4:55 PM, where they will compete in a 15-minute sprint session for the 10 first spots on the grid.

“I like that in SRO, all of us need to get the job done in qualifying, and they average out the best time,” noted John Edwards down on pit lane during the Pre-Qualifying session.
