Winward Racing and US RaceTronics Secure Fanatec GT World Challenge Poles at Road America

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin - The world’s fastest GT3 drivers took to Road America’s fast tarmac Saturday morning to qualify for an action-packed double-header weekend on this historic, beautiful stretch of Midwestern tarmac. The qualifying format for the Fanatec field has driver 1 setting the grid for race 1 with driver 2 setting the grid for race 2. As we navigate through the second half of the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season, it’s been a roller coaster ride of position changes, flipping scripts, and some of the best sports car racing across the entire globe.

Race 1 Qualifying

The #33 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Russell Ward/Philip Ellis) grabbed the top spot with a 2:05.266, and will be joined on the front row by the #6 US Racetronics Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Stephen Aghakhani/Loris Spinelli). 

Row two is all K-PAX Racing with the #3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 (Misha Goikhberg/Jordan Pepper) and the #1 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 (Michele Beretta/Andrea Caldarelli). Caldarelli leads the drivers points championship having scored six wins so far this season.  

Among the Pro-Am teams the top time of 2:05.838 was claimed by the #94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 (Chandler Hull/Bill Auberlen), who will be joined by the #04 CrowdStrike with Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 of George Kurtz and Colin Braun. 

Behind them will sit the #45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GTe-R (991.iii) (Charlie Luck/Jan Heylen) and #08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Scott Smithson/Bryan Sellers), followed by local Wisconsin World Challenge favorites RealTime Racing in the #43 Acura NSX GT3 (Erin Vogel/Michael Cooper), and #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 (Ashton Harrison/Mario Farnbacher).

The Am field will see #23 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 (Onofrio Triarsi/Charlie Scardina) just ahead of the #032 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (991.ii) (Kyle Washington/James Sofronas).

Race 2 Qualifying

The Sunday front row will be the mirror image of Saturday with the #6 US Racetronics Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Steven Aghakhani/Loris Spinelli) on pole alongside the #33 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Russell Ward/Phillip Ellis).  Spinelli set the quickest lap of 2:02.880.

Row two is the same as Saturday with the #3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 (Misha Goikhberg/Jordan Pepper) and the #1 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 (Michele Beretta/Andrea Caldarelli).

The Pro-Am class front row will be the #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 (Ashton Harrison/Mario Farnbacher) after Farnbacher laid down a 2:04.005. Beside them will be the #04 CrowdStrike with Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 (George Kurtz/Colin Braun).

Completing the top-five in Pro-Am will be the #94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 (Chandler Hull/Bill Auberlen), the #08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 (Scott Smithson/Bryan Sellers) and the #45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R (991.ii) (Charlie Luck/Jan Heylen).

The Am field will mirror Race 1, with the #23 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 (Onofrio Triarsi/Charlie Scardina) in front of the #032 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R (991.ii) (Kyle Washington/James Sofronas).

Race 1 will take place at 2:15 PM CST, Race 2 goes down at 1:15 PM on Sunday.
