Till Bechtolsheimer led a rain-affected second practice session for this weekend’s Blancpain GT World Challenge America races at Virginia International Raceway presented by Henry Repeating Arms.

Driving the Pro-Am class #5 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo that he shares with Ryan Eversley, Bechtolsheimer posted a time of 1:56.134 not long before the end of the 60-minute run.

Up to that point, the session had been largely controlled by Anthony Imperato who completed a haul of 24 laps in the #91 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Imperato put valuable mileage on Wright’s new Porsche chassis which only arrived from the manufacturer’s German HQ last week. The American driver, who is teamed up with Matt Campbell, ended up on a time of 1:58.153 that put him third on the leaderboard.

Second-quickest in second practice was Dane Cameron who pedalled the #43 RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo to a 1:58.055 effort late on.

While the heavy rain that hit Friday’s second session isn’t expected to return later in the weekend, a handful of teams opted to make use of the available track time.

Both K-PAX Racing Bentley Continental GT3s turned multiple laps while Colin Braun also took the #04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 out for a run.

The full 17-car field will be back on track tomorrow morning for what promises to be a thrilling pair of qualifying sessions on the 17-turn, 3.27-mile VIR country course.

These two 15-minute groups will decide the grids for the weekend’s pair of 90-minute, two-driver races featuring some of the world’s best GT3 sprint driver lineups.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 10:35 a.m. EDT with live coverage available at gt-world-challenge-america.com.
