Practice 1 Kicks Off the 2022 GT World Challenge America Season at Sonoma

Sonoma, California - On Friday, the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge America Presented by AWS season kicked off under the high midday sun in California’s Wine Country, with Practice Session No. 1 clocking in some lightning-fast lap times at Sonoma Raceway presented by Crowdstrike.

In Pro, Andrea Caldarelli laid down the fastest lap time in the #1 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with a 1:36.241. Not too far off was Lois Spinelli in the #6 US Racetronics Mercedes-AMG GT3, followed by Russell Ward in the #33 Windward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

In Pro/Am, Michael Dinan led the way with a 1:36.777 behind the wheel of the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, followed by Giacomo Altoe in the #3 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with a 1:38.610, and finally Mario Farnbacher piloting the #93 Acura NSX GT3 for Racers Edge Motorsports with a 1:38.984.

In Am, Conrad Grunewald laid down a swift 1:39.607 in his AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3, followed by Onofrio Triarsi in the #23 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 with a 1:41.274.

World-class sports car racing continues on later today, with Practice Session No. 2 at 2:55 PM Pacific going down before an action-packed weekend. On Saturday, qualifying begins at 10:00 AM, followed by Race 1 at 2:15 PM.
