Risi Competizione to Field Ferrari 488 GT3 at SRO Motorsports America Event at COTA, March 1-3

Houston, Texas – The Texas based Risi Competizione Team announces a second entry for the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) SRO Motorsports America event this weekend in Austin, Texas.

Long-time Ferrari driver and coach Anthony Lazzaro, of Atlanta, Georgia, will pair with Texan Pierre Mulacek in the No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 in the Sprint X GT Am class for the Blancpain GT World Challenge America championship, March 1-3.

The double Bronze-rated driving duo competed together in two races last year for a double Top 10 finish. They are returning with high hopes for Round 1 of the 2019 season after a successful test at COTA last week in the Ferrari 488.

Lazzaro has a racing background that includes sports car racing, IndyCar, and numerous NASCAR series, including as a ‘road course ringer’. He’s also been a driving coach for many years, aiding new drivers with the nuances of race car control, speed, data and telemetry evaluation, and the like.

One of Lazzaro’s students is his co-driver, Austin businessman Pierre Mulacek, Founding Shareholder and Director of Quantumsine.

“Anthony and I work together without compromise and do the best for the team,” said Mulacek. “We have a great connection of histories and the best state-of-the-art car, which is a big plus in racing. The best thing about Risi is their history and they are a first-class operation.

“I love the COTA circuit and my favorite part is the SS. The most challenging part of the circuit is getting maximum acceleration out of the slow corners.”

“I feel very fortunate that Pierre gave me a call to race at COTA with him and Risi Competizione,” said Lazzaro. “We got our feet wet last year at the Utah round of PWC Sprint X and we had a good time, learned a lot and found out there is more to learn! I think COTA will be different because it’s Pierre’s home track and he knows his way around the circuit. We had a very productive one-day test last Monday. The series has changed since last year, and I believe for the better. The races are 1.5 hours in length, both drivers get to qualify, and the quality of the field is better.

“Racing with Risi has always been an honor for me. I met Giuseppe in 1993, in Savannah, Georgia at the first Ferrari Challenge event in North America, introduced by our good friend Dave Seibert. I first raced for Risi in 1999 in the 333SP, from there it has been a very special relationship over many years. I have been involved with the Risi Ferrari Challenge team for the last 15 years. I’m proud to be back with Risi and their continued involvement with Ferrari in GT3, a customer-based race car which adds another dimension to their GTLM program.

“This year will be my 13th year as a Corsa Pilota instructor and this is the foundation for everything Ferrari and customer racing. I love driving a red Risi Competizione Ferrari and I have that opportunity again thanks to Pierre!”

“We’re happy to have Pierre and Anthony for CoTA,” said Rick Mayer, Risi Competizione Race Engineer. “This should be a competitive pairing for a good finish in the GT Am class.”

Risi Competizione, owned by Giuseppe Risi, has a 20-year history and an undeniable standing as a leader in racing with numerous global championships, endurance and sprint victories and an impeccable reputation that goes with the name. Mr. Risi is also the owner of Ferrari of Houston and Ferrari of The Woodlands.
