Cameron Racing set for Blancpain GT World Challenge Program with BMW

With the opening round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America program set to kick off this coming weekend at the famed Circuit of the Americas, Stephen Cameron Racing will enter a pair of BMW branded machines in both the GT3 and GT4 divisions. Looking for success in Austin, Texas, Henry Schmitt, Greg Liefooghe and Sean Quinlan will share driving duties across the pair of BMWs.

“It is always exciting to get a new race season started,” explained Steve Cameron. “We have a great group of drivers within the Cameron Racing program as well as a solid crew and engineering staff. Our marketing partners and BMW have been very supportive in our efforts, and we look forward to the first green flag of the season this weekend.”

Henry Schmitt and Greg Liefooghe will pilot a BMW M6 GT3 in a full season program, as the duo will utilize their experience both on and off the track. Liefooghe will be pulling double duty on Blancpain GT weekends, as he will also see action in the BMW M4 GT4 SprintX entry. Sharing the driver’s seat with Sean Quinlan, all three drivers are returning to the Cameron Racing program in 2019, building off of their 2018 efforts.

“We have some consistency with our drivers from 2018 to 2019 and that should elevate our program,” added Cameron. “We also have some returning engineers from previous seasons that bring renewed focus and a new way of thinking. They also come with a very healthy resume and could be the final pieces to the Cameron Racing puzzle.”

Schmitt, who will co-pilot the M6 GT3 entry, levels up from his TC and GT4 program in 2018. Joining Liefooghe in a full season program, Henry is an integral part to the overall Cameron Racing operation. Sean Quinlan will also jump from the TC category to the much faster GT4 class as he also shares the seat with Liefooghe. Greg, a long time pro driver in the Cameron Racing program, has competed in IMSA and Pirelli World Challenge, with notable success. Cameron Racing and their Audi R8 was the GT3 race winner in the SprintX division in 2016 with Drew Regitz and Kyle Marcelli at the WeatherTech Raceway in Laguna Seca.

With three returning drivers, Cameron Racing bolstered their overall program with two returnees from previous years. Rick Cameron, former Engineer for Visit Florida Racing and JDC Motorsports will perch himself on the Cameron Racing timing stand as he puts his knowledge to use to improve the overall speed and results of the BMW program. Alongside Cameron, Chris Brown will return as Data Engineer, providing a powerful and very knowledgeable one-two punch for Cameron Racing.

Taking the green flag this weekend, Cameron Racing will launch their 2019 racing program at the Circuit of the Americas during the opening round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America.
