Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Opens with Sonoma Practice Session

Sonoma, Calif. - The opening session of the 2021 Fanatec GT World Challenge America championship took to the track under sunny skies and moderate temperatures. Driving the #3 KPAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, Andrea Caldarelli turned a 1:36.798 lap time to set the pace for the Pro class and capture overall fastest lap time.

KPAX teammate Giovanni Venturini drove the #6 KPAX Racing car to the second place Pro-class position with a 1:37.207, while Turner Motorsport's #96 BMW F13 M6 GT3 car took its 1:38.333 lap effort by driver Michael Dinan to the third-in-class spot.

In ProAm, Ziad Ghandour's 1:37.515 also captured the third-place overall lap while taking top spot in class in the TR3 Racing entry, the #9 Lamborghini Huracan GT3. David Askew (#63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3) took the second ProAm spot with his 1:37.557 lap, a hair behind Ghandour, while returning driver Fred Poordad (#20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R 991.2) captured the third spot with a 1:37.663.

The #61 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3, piloted by driver Jean-Claude Saada, closed out the session with a Red Flag-incurring incident with approximately 10 minutes left.
