Turner Motorsport Returns with BMW for 2021 GT World Challenge America Season

Turner Motorsport and BMW have been a force together in sports car racing for over two decades. For 2021, the team will enter GT World Challenge America powered by AWS with the formidable BMW M6 GT3. Reinvigorating its heritage racing in World Challenge competition.

Beginning in 1998, Turner Motorsport campaigned their iconic blue and yellow BMWs in World Challenge, winning the 2003 and 2004 Touring Car Championships. In that six-year span, the team captured ten race wins, forty top-five finishes and seven poles.

In recent years, the team has fielded an AM entry for the Japanese duo of Takuya Shirasaka and Naoto Takeda. In their limited schedule, Shirasaka and Takeda earned three class wins, and second and third place finishes.

“I am happy to announce that the Turner team will be returning to GT World Challenge America for the full 2021 season. We have a lot of experience racing the BMW M6 and we are excited to bring that experience back to World Challenge to compete for a championship”

The 2021 season features a 13-round championship, kicking off at Sonoma Raceway on March 5-7. The series then heads to Circuit of the Americas, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, VIRginia International Raceway, Road America, and Watkins Glen International. With a finale at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Intercontinental GT Challenge Indianapolis 8 Hour race.

Turner Motorsport's 2021 driver line-up will be announced shortly.
