Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Teams Secure Three GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS Podium Finishes at Sonoma Raceway

SONOMA, California - Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing teams secured three GT World Challenge America powered by AWS podium finishes in a competitive SRO Motorsports Group America race weekend at Sonoma Raceway, August 7 – 9. In the weekend’s GT World Challenge doubleheader, Mercedes-AMG GT3 team DXDT Racing secured three podium finishes with drivers George Kurtz and Colin Braun in the No. 04 entry and David Askew and Ryan Dalziel sharing the sister No. 63 car.

The No. 04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of George Kurtz and Colin Braun finished third in Pro-Am on Saturday and moved up to second in class in Sunday’s final 90-minute race.

The No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of co-drivers David Askew and Ryan Dalziel added to the team’s podium tally with a third place showing in Sunday’s race.

Other Mercedes-AMG GT3 highlights at Sonoma were Braun’s Pro-Am class pole and second place overall qualifying effort for Sunday’s race, and Dalziel’s fastest overall lap in Saturday’s race.

The SRO GT World Challenge America and Pirelli GT4 America series next return to action at Road America, August 28 – 30.

David Askew, Driver – No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3: “I got in the car Sunday and had a short stint. They moved the pit window back a little bit for this weekend. I concentrated on the out lap and the pit crew told me I was in P3. So, I knew there was some fast cars behind me, and that it wouldn’t be a cake walk. So, I just concentrated on being really accurate, precise and consistent and it worked out for a podium. Super proud of the team and everybody.”

Ryan Dalziel, Driver – No. 63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3: “Tough weekend for the 63 Mercedes-AMG GT3. It seemed like we couldn’t quite match the 04 car on qualifying pace but all weekend we had a really good car on old tires. Both races we had a fast car. We just started at the wrong end of the grid. We need to figure out a little bit better qualifying for the next race, but super happy for David and me to get back on the podium again.”
