Marcelli Tops in Second GT World Challenge America Practice at VIR

ALTON, Virginia – Kyle Marcelli set the fastest time Friday afternoon in the second GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series practice of the weekend at VIRginia International Raceway. The 60-minute session was held under hot and humid 89-degree Fahrenheit conditions.

Early on in the session, Pro/Am Division driver Ryan Dalziel in the #63 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 set the early fast time of 1:45.287. His teammate Colin Braun, behind the wheel of the #04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 posted a 1:45.529, good for second spot at the time. Braun then went quicker with a 1:45.093.

Silver category driver Trent Hindman in the #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 posted a 1:45.971, good for fourth overall at the time. He later posted a faster time of 1:45.505, good for fifth overall on the charts.

Marcelli in the #80 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 then drove a 1:45.318 to move up into second on the charts. Dalziel improved his time to 1:45.002.

At the 17-minute mark of the session Marcelli jumped to the top with a new fast time of 1:44.898, while in the Am class, Max Root in the #20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R posted a new fast time in class with a 1:45.786, good for sixth overall. The fastest times held at the checkered.

GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series teams and competitors now get set for Saturday's qualifying session scheduled for a green flag start of 8:30am local time.
