Braun Paces GT World Challenge America Practice at VIR

ALTON, Virginia – Colin Braun paced the field in the first GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series practice of the weekend at VIRginia International Raceway. The 60-minute session was held under sunny 80-degree Fahrenheit conditions.

Early on, Pro/Am Division competitors and DXDT Racing teammates Ryan Dalziel and Braun went back and forth trading fast times. Thirteen minutes in, Braun, behind the wheel of the #04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 posted a 1:44.821 eclipsed shortly after by Dalziel's 1:44.909, driving the #63 Mercedes-AMG GT3. The two continued to shave their times, Braun to a 1:44.550, Dalziel to a 1:44.651.

In the Am division, Fred Poordad in the #20 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R posted a 1:47.112 and then steadily improved to a 1:46.691, and a 1:46.096. Poordad then handed the reins to teammate Max Root and the American driver promptly set a fast lap of 1:44.640, good for second overall. 

In the Silver division, Shelby Blackstock, behind the wheel of the #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 set an early fast lap of 1:46.711 and improved his times from a 1:46.197, to a 1:45.588, then to a 1:45.097. Blackstock's teammate Trent Hindman took over and posted a 1:44.947, good for fourth overall when the checkered was displayed.

GT World Challenge America powered by AWS Series teams and competitors now get set for the second practice session of the weekend scheduled for a green flag start of 3:10pm local time.
