Skip Barber Racing School and Blancpain GT World Challenge America Announce Official Partnership

MONTEREY, CA – Today, SRO Motorsports America, the producers of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America championship, and Skip Barber Racing School (SBRS), announced a partnership naming SBRS the Official Racing School for the 2019 and 2020 race seasons.

The Skip Barber Racing School has a storied legacy of producing top tier drivers over the past four decades, including Alexander Rossi, Josef Newgarden, Juan Pablo Montoya, AJ Allmendinger, and many more. Founded in 1975, SBRS has a national footprint and has taught over 300,000 people. With a fully integrated system of driving schools, racing schools, and corporate events at tracks like WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Lime Rock Park, SBRS has been an integral part of motorsports. Under new ownership, the school will continue training and developing aspiring racers wishing to become part of professional racing.

Through this partnership, SBRS will create a licensing and accreditation process that will ensure racers have met minimum requirements to complete in the Blancpain professional race series. New drivers without a professional license who graduate from the SBRS course will be granted a provisional racing license. In addition, further racing programs will be created to both enhance driving skills and divers’ racecraft.

“Skip Barber Racing School has been the go-to racing school for decades. We’re truly excited to have them join us and provide a baseline for new drivers entering professional racing,” said Greg Gill, president and CEO of SRO Motorsports America.

“Working alongside World Challenge is perfect for the team at SBRS. Our demographics are well aligned across the board, from the hard core racer perfecting their techniques, to the casual fan who now gets to participate in one of our driving or racing schools, and everyone in between.” said Dan DeMonte, Chief Marketing Officer.

“As a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School , I’m thrilled to have such a renowned brand and racing school join our Championships,” said Robbie Montinola, director of Marketing and Business Development of SRO Motorsports America. “Driver education and coaching is highly important to promote better racing and closer competition. We look forward to working closely with Skip Barber to train our current and future drivers in a variety of programs.”

The partnership will span across all three SRO Motorsports America championships – Blancpain GT World Challenge America, GT4 America, and TC America – kicking off at Circuit of the Americas on March 1st – 3rd.
