Hot Action in the Cool Desert for GT Sports Club Round 5 Competitors

Thermal, Calif. - The fifth round of the exciting GT Sports Club classes at the Winter Invitational at The Thermal Club went down in the temperate Southern California sun today and the on-track action did not disappoint.

When the dust settled and the checkered flag came down, it was the #63 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of David Askew that was awarded the top prize in the GT3 class. DXDT Racing driver Askew is also a GT World Challenge America regular season competitor.

Scuderia Corse's Bret Curtis took the #65 Ferrari 488 GT3 through the circuit to within a fraction of a second of the race-winner, settling into second place by the time the checkered cleared.

Closing out the podium in the GT3 Class was #7 Daskalos Motorsports Audi driver Jason Daskalos. His efforts in the Audi R8 LMS Ultra were good enough to net the podium finish.

New to American shores, the GT2 Class ran concurrent with the other GT Sports Club members and found its class leader in Hutton McKenna. McKenna, driving the #18 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport took the checkered flag in Saturdays Round 5 race and looks to repeat the feat on Sunday.

In GT Cup competition, the #85 CP Racing Porsche 991 GT3 Cup crossed the finish line first with driver Charlie Putman behind the wheel, while father-son duo Jim and Evan Slavik finished second and third, respectively.

GT Sports Club competitors close out the Winter Invitational series with a 10:15 am qualifying session followed by the last race at 1:00 pm.
