GT Sports Club Drivers Burn Through Thermal for Round 5 Qualifying

8 February 2020

Thermal, Calif. - GT Sports Club drivers put their best feet forward and lay down qualifying laps in the Round 5 qualifying session at The Thermal Club. The perfect Southern California weather made conditions ripe for fast times and drivers did not disappoint.

Series stalwart and GT World Challenge champion James Sofronas captured pole position in the GT3 class of the GT Sports Club competition with his #4 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS, turning a 1:58.299 lap to earn him the prime front row real estate.

Rearden Racing's Dimitri Novikov turned a 2:01.611 lap in the Audi R8 LMS GT2 that gave him pole position for the GT2 class.

Jim Slavik's GT Cup effort, a 2:07.477-second in the lap in the #58 Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup, prevented an Audi lock on the front row and gave the racing family patriarch P1 for the race.

GT Sports Club cars take to the track at 3:00 pm Pacific on Saturday for Round 5 competition.
