Serra Scores Blancpain GT World Challenge America Round 11 Pole at Road America

ELKHART LAKE, WI - Ferrari driver Daniel Serra scored the pole for Saturday afternoon's Blancpain GT World Challenge America Round 11 at Road America. The challenging 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course will host the series' two 90-minute Rounds 11 and 12 September 21 and 22.

The 15-minute qualifying session to determine the grid for Saturday's Round 11 saw Brazilian Serra jump to the top of the charts early with a 2:04.558 in his #61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3. Porsche driver Patrick Long in the #58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R (991) slotted in behind Serra with a 2:07.275.

In the Pro/Am division, Mike Hedlund, racing for Saukville, Wisconsin's RealTime Racing, slotted into third overall and tops in the division with a 2:07.604 behind the wheel of his #43 RealTime Racing Acura NSX.

Brazilian Rodrigo Baptista in the K-PAX Racing #3 Bentley Continental GT3 then moved into second on the charts with a 2:06.878 only to be eclipsed by Long who posting a 2:06.429.

At the checkered, the two top times held. Baptista posted a quicker time of 2:06.671 to solidify third position on the grid, while his K-PAX racing teammate Spain’s Andy Soucek in the #9 Bentley Continental GT3 posted a 2:07.375 and will start fourth. Hedlund's time was tops in Pro/Am and best for fifth overall on the grid. Naoto Takeda in the Am division #96 Turner Motorsport BMW F13 M6 GT3 posted a 2:10.737 and will start 13th overall.

"We are starting in a good spot for Race 1 today," said Serra after the session. "We need to manage the gap between the other car in the championship (#9 Bentley Continental GT3), but the car feels good and we are ready to keep pushing. There is some rain expected so we will see what happens there, but this a great track and it's my first time here so I'm enjoying it a lot."

Results are provisional until posted final. Blancpain GT World Challenge America teams and drivers now get set to take to the track for Saturday's Round 11 scheduled for a 2:20pm Central green flag. The race will be streamed live on gt-world-challenge-america.com.
