ELKHART LAKE, WI – Pro/Am class driver Kyle Marcelli paced the second Blancpain GT World Challenge America practice at Road America Friday afternoon. Top Pro division driver of the session was Daniel Serra, while Naoto Takeda was fastest in the Am division.
Early in the 60-minute session, Pro-Am division driver Matt Campbell in the #91 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R (991) posted a top time of 2:07.228, followed by Pro division pilot Maxime Soulet in the K-PAX Racing #3 Bentley Continental GT3 with a 2:07.414.
Just after the 15-minute mark of the session, Dane Cameron in the #43 RealTime Racing Acura NSX jumped to the top with a 2:07.141. Top Am driver Takuya Shairasaka in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW F13 M6 GT3 slotted into 13th overall with a 2:13.657.
Two minutes later, Marcelli, driving the #80 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX eclipsed Cameron's time with a 2:06.861. A lap later Marcelli went quicker posting a 2:06.716. Pro division driver Serra, piloting the #61 R. Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 then slotted in behind Marcelli with a 2:06.761. Shairasaka moved up to 11th and tops in Am with a 2:09.062.
Marcelli's and Serra's times held for the balance of the session, while Shairasaka's teammate Naoto Takeda posted a quicker time of 2:08.718 to hold on to the 11th overall position and tops in the Am division after the checkered flew.
Blancpain GT World Challenge America teams and drivers now get set for Saturday morning's qualifying sessions for Saturday afternoon's Round 11. Races and qualifying will be streamed live on gt-world-challenge-america.com, with Sunday's Round 12 contest will be live on CBS Sports Network.
