Winward Racing is prepping to race in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS with drivers Russell Ward and Philip Ellis behind the wheel of their No. 33 Mercedes AMG GT3.

Winward kicked off the 2021 racing season the right way by winning the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in GTD in January. Ward and Ellis plan to maintain this momentum in SRO. The two are ready to be back behind the wheel of the No. 33 car and feel optimistic about what they can accomplish together.

“I’m excited to be back in the World Challenge paddock,” driver and team principal Russell Ward states. “I’m looking forward to the larger, more competitive field. The folks at SRO America put on a great event! Philip and I are hot off the win at Daytona and ready to kick some a$$!

Winward Racing made their GT World Challenge America debut last year and look forward to seeing what the 2021 season brings to them and the fans. This year will see 13 rounds at 7 different tracks and continue with the same race format as last season, with two 90-minute races in each weekend’s event, and two drivers sharing designated time in the car.

“We are so excited to run SRO again! We learned a lot last year and plan to keep that momentum into the 2021 season,” team manager Alberto Peña explains. The crew is excited for pit stops, and the drivers are eager to hit the track. Overall, we just can’t wait to see what we can pull off this year. We’re always working to be better and do better than before That remains the plan.

Winward Racing will kick off their SRO season at Sonoma Raceway, March 6th-8th.
